Sidcup v Lewisham, Bennet v Grist
Keith and Leon got the match off to a good start both winning their games and finishing at about the same time with both their opponents making a few blunders to give Sidcup an early 2 -0 lead. Unfortunately, Dennis made a blunder from a winning position and lost quickly after that giving Lewisham a chance of a draw as Ken was in a difficult position at the time. However, a blunder by Delroy Bennett (Lewisham) on move 22 combined with careful play by Ken, meant the result was never in doubt, giving Sidcup a well deserved 3-1 win.

AGM 14.09.11
How much should the club subscription be? How many teams should we run this year? These are typical questions to which we hope to find answers at the Annual General Meeting of the club. The meeting should start at 8.00pm on Wednesday14th September. I hope you and all other members will be there. The formal agenda will be:
Apologies for absence.
Minutes of the Annual General Meeting of 15th September 2010.
Matters arising from the minutes.
Chairman’s report.
Secretary and Treasurer’s report.
Match Captains’ reports.
Press Officer’s report.
Webmaster’s report.
Website in the coming year.
Team entries in the coming year
Club tournaments in the coming year.
Subscriptions.
Election of officers i.e. chairman, secretary and treasurer, match captains, webmaster, tournament officer and press officer.
Any other business.
Last year we ran three teams in the Kent League, but the meeting may decide to run some other number of teams.
We will be discussing our website (sidcupchessclub.org.uk). I look forward to hearing your ideas for material to put on it and what you can provide for it.
After the meeting I will try to collect the subscriptions which you have just voted. Last year the subscription for a full year was £55, except for pensioners, who pay £50, those with an annual income under £10,000, who pay £35, and members in full-time education, who pay nothing.
I very much hope to see you and hear your constructive comments on 14th September.
Yours sincerely
Ian McAllan

Match Reports - League Finals
Congratulations also to the Harvey Cup team, who defeated the Cranbrook team, Weald of Kent, 3.5 - 2.5 in a much closer match. Rob and Dennis won and Dave drew early on but Weald of Kent pinned us back and Ian needed to win the final game to finish, which he duly did.
This is the first time that Sidcup have won two trophies on Finals Day.
